Live Nurses Training Sessions

Below is a list of all the training sessions we offer. Please click on the links to check for any upcoming sessions on our Events calendar .

The ICB, MLCSU Data Quality Team and the Lancashire and South Cumbria Primary Care Training Hub have mapped the current training for both clinical and non clinical staff which is available to support the delivery of the Local Enhanced Service and LTC LES contracts for 2025/26.

If there are no available dates, please contact us via the main inbox  to request information about future sessions.

PCN Lead Nurse Leadership Day Face to Face at SHOUT Preston

ARE YOU A LEAD NURSE?

If so, then we are inviting you to join us on 30th June at SHOUT in Preston for day one of our FREE Leadership Development programme (day two to be confirmed in February 2027)

We are delighted to welcome Jana Kennedy, an experienced management consultant, facilitator, and leadership coach, who will lead both sessions. This programme is designed to provide space for reflection, connection, and development, supporting Lead Nurses to strengthen their resilience and leadership capabilities in times of change.

 There are only a few remaining places, so book now to avoid disappointment.

Lancashire and South Cumbria Local and National Nurse and AHP Quarterly Update Forums

Each session will be 2 hours in duration and will be held on PLT afternoons to support attendance and ensure ease of access via Teams.

There will be a different topic for discussion on each of the dates including early cancer diagnosis and cardiovascular disease prevention and management.

A guest speaker will be hosting each session, with time set aside to “ask the expert”.

Virtual Ring Pessary Refresher Training

This online session is designed for delegates who have already completed initial ring pessary training and require a refresher.
The session covers:

  • Prolapse assessment​
  • Knowledge of indication and management involved in pessary care​
  • Removal and fitting of pessaries for routine changes​
  • Knowledge of how to manage complications of ring pessaries​
  • Assessment for ring pessary fitting​
  • Knowledge on alternatives to pessaries ​
  • Pessary self-management
Face‑to‑Face ‘New Fitters’ Course

A full‑day, in‑person course suitable for delegates who are new to pessary fitting.

This training includes both theory and practical components delivered on the same day.

Participants will gain:

  • Comprehensive theoretical knowledge
  • Hands‑on practice using appropriate training equipment
  • Confidence and competence in undertaking ring pessary assessments and fittings
Face‑to‑Face Practice-Only Session

An optional practical‑only session delivered face‑to‑face for those wishing to enhance their hands‑on skills.
Practice is carried out using a gynaecology training dummy to build confidence and technique.

Why Attend?
Spirometry is widely used in primary care, but inconsistent or unsafe reporting can lead to misdiagnosis,
misclassification, and inappropriate treatment.

This 3-hour CPD-accredited workshop focuses on how to interpret and report spirometry results safely
and consistently, using a clear, structured clinical approach that stays firmly within scope of practice.

What this workshop will cover:
The role and limits of the clinical report.
A structured, step-by-step approach to
spirometry reporting.
Using reference values and the lower limit
of normal (LLN) to define normality.
Safe identification of airflow obstruction
using FEV1/FVC ratio.
Using Z-scores to assess severity.
Using the flow volume curve and volume
time graph appropriately.
Using bronchodilator response testing
appropriately.
Writing clear, neutral spirometry clinical
report statements.

Basic Wound Care (Part 1 – Virtual)

This training is in 2 parts and you must attend both parts in order to receive a certificate:

When to wound swab and when to change dressing
Wound healing and monitoring
Clip and suture removal
The sessions are held in groups of 10-12 only and led by our supertrainer

The North West Training Hubs have come together to showcase the great work happening across Primary Care and we’re inviting colleagues to be part of it through TEN Talks.

Do you work in Primary Care in the North West?Do you have an idea, insight or story you’d like to share?

TEN Talks are 10‑minute live webinars, taking place every other Tuesday at 1pm from 5 May 2026. Sessions are delivered via Microsoft Teams and recorded for replay.
What’s involved:

  • A 10‑minute talk on a topic that matters
  • A short Q&A or reflection afterwards
  • Full support with preparation and presenting
  • Sessions are hosted on Teams, uploaded to our Learning Lounge and shared digitally
