Adult Phlebotomy/Venepuncture Pre-requisites
• Work within the scope of their professional role, training, and local policies and have explicit approval under local organisational policy for phlebotomy roles.
Please note if you are attending this course from outside of General Practice and/or Lancashire and South Cumbria you should follow local policy and guidelines. Before booking this course, you must also ensure that it is recognised by the organisation who will be responsible for your workplace competency assessments and have a workplace assessor in place.

Paediatric Phlebotomy/Venepuncture Training
Please note that you must meet the pre-requisites below before applying for this course
Paediatric Phlebotomy/Venepuncture Pre-requisites
- Be a registered healthcare professional (e.g., nurse, doctor, healthcare scientist) or non-registered, e.g. HCA, have a minimum of 12 month’s experience in adult venepuncture/phlebotomy and regularly take bloods as part of their role and have explicit approval under local organisational policy for phlebotomy roles.
- Have an up-to-date DBS check (if in direct unsupervised patient contact).
- Have completed core mandatory training (infection control, safeguarding children, basic life support).
- Ensure that their workplace competency is signed off by an experienced, designated assessor (usually a senior nurse, consultant, or phlebotomy trainer).
- Work within the scope of their professional role, training, and local policies and have explicit approval under local organisational policy for phlebotomy roles.

The aim of this paediatric phlebotomy training course is to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to safely and effectively perform paediatric blood draws.
