Basic Wound Care face to face theory and practical in one day

This face to face session is a full day 9.30- 4.30pm with 30 mins break for lunch at Fatima Health Centre, 228 Garstang Rd, Fulwood, Preston PR2 9QB (1st Floor)

This session is a combined theory and practical basic wound care session (replacing and combining the original part 1 and part 2 sessions)

 

The session is delivered by our basic wound care supertrainer Abigail Holman

Defining and classifying wounds
Wound Healing
Patient Assessment
Wound assessment and documentation
Wound management and debridement
Exudate management and cleansing
Wound infection and dressing selection
Factors affecting wound healing
Skin tears
Simple lacerations
Simple skin burns
Malignancy flags
Sutures and clip removal
Safeguarding

Practical elements
Group tasks looking at wounds and burns and agreeing a treatment plan and management
Dressing packs and aseptic technique
How to describe a wound
How to photograph a wound
When to refer
How to complete Les template
Codes for ordering
When to wound swab and when to change dressing
Wound healing and monitoring
Clip and suture removal
