Tuition fee financial support options, and how to apply for most of these, are detailed in our Apprenticeships Process Employer Guide.
Apprentices will need to have a CIPD membership whilst on this apprenticeship, in order to access resources and intergrate with the CIPD system for EPA. The university will pay for CIPD Student Membership for apprentices whilst they are undertaking this apprenticeship for apprentices who do not already have CIPD membership. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship EPA, individuals will be upgraded to CIPD Associate Member status – there are fees for this which the individual will be required to pay if they wish to continue with the CIPD Associate Membership.
Apprenticeships require learners to achieve specific new knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs), which are detailed in the Apprenticeship Standard. These are achieved by;
1) Programme Teaching; This usually consists of 2 on campus teaching days and 5 webinars per module (unit). On campus attendance averages at 16 days across the duration of the apprenticeship. A minimum of 6 hours per week must be dedicated for apprenticeship study (programme teaching and independent study). Learning for the CIPD diploma is fully incorporated in to the apprenticeship teaching, and each module has a method of assessment dictated by the CIPD. Please note programme teaching sessions (both on campus and webinar sessions) are not recorded.
2) Independent study; such as assignment/project research and write up.
3) Learning in the workplace; shadowing colleagues, completing programme assigned work based projects, day-to-day development within your current role duties/work activities, reflections with mentor, relevant training sessions.
• Employed minimum 30 hours per week in a suitable role for the duration of the apprenticeship. Apprenticeship duration may be extended to support staff who work less than this.
• Preferably, CIPD Level 3 (or higher) qualification or equivalent.
• Preferably, 18 months experience of people management practices.
• Candidate must be involved in workplace decisions/activities that are related to people management – specifically Employment Law issues in practice.
Full requirements and details are to be found on the course webpage/information.
• Ensure apprentice has the support and opportunities to achieve the requirements of the apprenticeship.
Full requirements and details are found on the course webpage/information.
It takes on average 2 months to complete all application stages for this programme.
If recruiting to this position, additional time will be required for recruitment and advertising stages.
Education provider deadlines include:
• Ideally for university initial application paperwork to be submitted by end of July at the latest.
Primary Care employees have access to:
• All resources provided by the L&SC PC Training Hub such as Digital training, Health and Wellbeing support and events.
• Plus, L&SC PC Training Hub Non-clinical focussed Training and Resources. This webpage lists training and resources for non-clinical roles, which may compliment the apprenticeship (always check suitability with your apprenticeship education provider).
Skills England has an interactive occupational maps tool which shows the variety of progression pathways using apprenticeships.
Career progression does not have to be linear. Entry criteria may differ per provider and even more varied routes may be available depending on the individuals prior learning and experience.
