Work Experience

Are you able to support someone aged 16+ by offering a work experience opportunity?

Work Experience application windows are January, May and September. By providing a face-to-face observation placement for up to 5 days in social care setting, you can play a pivotal role in shaping the future workforce. You can provide real-world experience, career inspiration, pathway to employment/apprenticeships, community engagement by investing in the next generation ensures that the workforce of tomorrow is well prepared and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet future demands. T Levels

T Levels are a 2-year Level 3 qualification for 16- to 19-year-olds. Designed with employers from multiple sectors and combines classroom study with an industry placement. T Levels help young people develop the knowledge, attitude, and practical skills to progress into skilled employment or an apprenticeship. Care Leavers Covenant

A commitment from public, private and voluntary sector organisations to support people leaving care’ The Care Leaver Covenant (CLC) is part of the government’s keep on caring strategy to support care leavers aged 16 to 25 to live independently. It allows public, private and voluntary sector organisations to pledge support, including: apprenticeships work experience free or discounted goods and services Mock Interviews All support given through CLC will help care leavers to be better prepared and supported to live independently. The Covenant will help care leavers navigate the work opportunities available and support them in fulfilling their goals and ambitions. This ranges from CV training, access to work placements, apprenticeships to accommodation for care leavers in higher education. Social Care Training Hub and The Careers & Engagement Team within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Partnership, work collaboratively on offering a myriad of opportunities to those seeking a career within the Health and Social Care sector. We do this by offering a range of opportunities, such as: Employability Programmes, Apprenticeships, Work Experience, Step into Work schemes, Industry Based Placements for Further Education, Summer Schools, Workshops, Mock Interviews, Mentoring Circles and much more. Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are designed to help individuals develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career and employers to build a workforce with future ready skills. An apprenticeship is a job with training. Through an apprenticeship, an apprentice will gain the technical knowledge, practical experience and wider skills and behaviours that they need for their immediate job and future career. Social Care Apprenticeships

Social Care Employability Programme

A Step into Social Care Employability programme is running in Barrow-in-Furness September 2024. Candidates from the Princes Trust are enrolled onto the DBS update service and will complete a 5-week intensive course. Programme content includes - Health & Social Care Level 1 Award (accredited) Safeguarding (accredited) Extended Award in Skills for working in Health, Lifestyle and Science Industries (accredited) Employability skills Upon successful completion, we support candidates with a 2-day work experience placement and a guaranteed interview (not a guaranteed job) – We are looking for Social Care Providers within Barrow who have vacancies and would like to support these candidates. Higher development award

Higher Development award is an opportunity for personal development. The programme is aimed at all Support Workers in Clinical and Non-Clinical roles and enables Support Workers from all sectors to “Be the best and acknowledge potential”. It helps to motivate and engage support staff, helping to retain staff in their current role as well as those who wish to progress. This opportunity is open to ALL clinical and non-clinical including overseas colleagues. Delivered by 9 colleges across Lancashire and South Cumbria over 5-12 days (depending on Level) and you or a colleague can gain a recognised qualification ( Level 1- level 3). This programme can provide progression into professional higher apprenticeship programmes, tradition programmes and development for those wishing to stay in support worker roles. Currently this is a Fully Funded programme with 4 Colleges offering BACKFILL at £250.00 per enrolled individual, four colleges can backfill five places only. Example of a Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading – 15 credits (each college may differ) Delivered over approx. 6 days via face-face or hybrid Introduction to team leading Personal development as a team leader Building work relationships Within these units, the following elements will be embedded; Developing yourself as a team leader Leading your work team Planning and monitoring work Improving performance of the work team Using information to solve problems Gathering, interpreting, and utilising data in the workplace Understanding good practice in workplace coaching Undertaking coaching in the workplace For more information or you would like to enrol please contact [email protected]
