Session Information

Spirometry Skills Workshops

Spirometry Skills Practice Workshop for Primary Care staff in Lancashire and South Cumbria

Available throughout the year at Fatima Health Centre, 228 Garstang Rd, Fulwood, Preston PR2 9QB (1st Floor) 

The session will include verification of the spirometer using a 3 litre syringe and an opportunity to practice performing spirometry with an experienced clinical educator.

The workshops welcome General Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Nursing Associates, Trainee Nursing Associates, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Student Nurses, Student Nurse Paramedics, Physician Associates… anyone with a clinical role within Primary Care that is already trained in spirometry

PLEASE BRING A DISPOSIBLE MOUTHPIECE TO THE SESSION
  • Please note this workshop is not a formal training session and the purpose is to support delegates in building on knowledge and skills already learnt from previous formal training.

What is a Mixed Skills Clinical Skills Practice Workshop?

With equipment available to use for a hands on practical approach to learning to help develop skills, boost confidence and have the opportunity to work with an experienced clinical educator!

We have added some extra skills onto our sessions to broaden your experience.

Topics covered:

  • Practice taking a smear
  • Manual blood pressures plus looking at normal parameters and targets
  • Injection Technique
  • Venepuncture
  • Inhaler technique
  • Peak flow technique
  • Blood oxygen levels using a pulse oximeter

Locations

All sessions are 10am to 1pm.
