Mental Health Awareness for Primary Care
This course looks at the minimum skills required for any primary care clinician to support someone encountering mental health problems. It includes demystifying mental health, basic communication skill requirements, brief history taking and assessment skills as well as effective support options available and safety netting.
Patient onward referral pathways and local support options will be reviewed and helpful resources supplied.
Author: Vicki Jordan BSc (Hons), NMP- Vicki has over 20 years’ experience in Mental Health Nursing both in Primary and Secondary Care Departments and has vast experience as both as senior nurse and as a Mental Health Practitioner.
