Introduction to Immunisation and Vaccinations Training (Foundation from April 2025)

There are a number of elearning modules which must be completed prior to attending the online live training session.

Please ensure you have blocked some time in your diary to complete this online training. Details of which are below.

The training will take place on MS Teams.
The Immunisation and Vaccination Foundation is a blended learning programme.
  • This training includes NHS Travel Vaccine schedules.
  • This is for those new to providing Immunisation and Vaccinations
  • This course does not cover anaphylaxis or basic life support. This must be completed separately.
In line with the Public Health England (2018) Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training for Registered Healthcare Practitioners, we have developed a blended approach of both an e-learning and a face-to-face taught course which previously consisted of two full taught days. Those new to immunisation are required to receive comprehensive foundation immunisation training.

The programme is free to access just register to use the e-lfh portal.
  • Immunology
  • Vaccine Preventable Disease relevant to your practice: Influenza, Shingles, Covid, Pneumococcal, Pertussis, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, HiB, Meningitis, Measles, Mumps and Rubella, Rotavirus, Hep B, RSV (if applicable)
  • Communicating with Patients, Parents and Carers
  • Legal Aspects
  • Vaccine Storage
  • Vaccine Administration
Delegates will also be expected to complete a questionnaire post-session in order to receive a certificate of completion plus a quiz gaining a mark of over 80%.

Delegates will require a clinical supervisor in Practice to be able to sign off the competency assessment tool following the course- details of which are below
to ensure the delivery of the vaccines is safe and effective.

The supervisor assessing the practitioner must be a registered healthcare practitioner who is competent and experienced in delivering immunisation programmes.

NOTE  for Non Registered Healthcare Professionals – BEFORE BOOKING PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU – have achieved education and training to Level Three of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)4 or equivalent in England and Wales with at least 2 years’ experience as recommended in The National Minimum Standards. These Standards are intended to support and facilitate high quality, safe delivery of the influenza, shingles and/or pneumococcal vaccination programmes. See here advice for HCA I & V Training.

This is an interactive session and you will be expected to interact. Please ensure you have a camera and microphone available to attend the meeting.
  • You will receive a certificate post training for your attendance. Places are limited, if you have booked a place, please ensure you attend.
