Lead Adult Care Workers are the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives. In addition, Lead Adult Care Workers have responsibility for providing supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others, or working autonomously, exercising judgement and accountability. Lead Adult Care Workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings. As well as covering Lead Adult Care Workers this standard also covers Lead Personal Assistants who can work at this senior level but they may only work directly for one individual who needs support and/or care services, usually within their own home.

Teaching Delivery
Blended with both face-to-face (Kendal College) and online teaching and resources.
Key Learning Requirements
Apprenticeships require learners to achieve specific new knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs), which are detailed in the Apprenticeship Standard. These are achieved by;
1) Programme Teaching; online coaching sessions or face to Face , workshops (Every Two Weeks) and online resources.
2) Independent study; such as assignment/project research and write up
3) Learning in the workplace; shadowing colleagues, completing programme assigned work based projects, day-to-day development within your current role duties/work activities, reflections with mentor, relevant training sessions.
4) Learners will follow an individualised Training plan which will include detail of the units they are to cover and the Knowledge and Skills they will obtain by undertaking the qualification. They will also include a range of Mile Stones they are to achieve.

This programme does not require external placements to be completed
Assessments
This qualification is assessed through a Portfolio of Evidence. This portfolio is made up of evidence gathered during the course to include direct observation of the learner’s performance by their assessor, questioning, products of work, personal statements, etc. Apprentices will complete the mandatory qualification Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care whilst studying for the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour as detailed in the Apprenticeship Standard.
Key Candidate Entry Requirements
•Preferably, evidence of English and Maths at GCSE C/4 or above /Functional Skills Level 2 / Equivalent
•Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.
• Employed 30 hours or more per week for the duration of the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship duration may be extended to support staff who work less than this (will be looked at on individual basis)
•Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service
•Meet the 15 standards as set out in the Care Certificate
Key Employer Entry Requirements

•To attend review meetings with the assessor and apprentice every 8-12 weeks to discuss progress.
•To support the learner with off the job training.

On successful completion of this apprenticeship, examples of further development via apprenticeship options could include; Lead Practitioner in Adult Care , Assistant Practitioner, Nursing Associate or Leadership routes
