Introduction

Lancashire & South Cumbria Primary Care Training Hub (L&SC PCTH) are offering Primary Care Organisations a 6-week Step into Primary Care Pre-Employment Programme, working in partnership with the local Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and an accredited Training Provider.

The programme is available for the following organisations:

  • General Practice
  • Dental Services
  • Community Pharmacy
  • Community Optometry

Programme Aims

The overall aims are to:

  • Increase potential employees by supporting unemployed 19+ candidates within the local area
  • Address the challenges organisations face in recruiting for clinical and non-clinical roles
  • Support a work placement for candidates to develop employability skills and qualities in order to secure health and social care roles

Eligibility

  • 19+
  • Unemployed and not in full time education
  • Level 1 Maths and English (GCSE 2/3 or D/E)
  • Must have lived in the UK for 3 years
  • Basic IT knowledge
  • DBS check essential (photo identification required)
  • Must commit to the full programme (6 weeks)
  • Have the right to work within the UK

On the Job Work Placement

Once the candidates have completed the 3 week accredited training then will then progress onto their work placement where they will have the opportunity to:

  • Experience working within a Primary Care organisation
  • Work with skilled professionals gaining valuable skills and knowledge
  • Attend a mid-point review with their supervisor and LSC PCTH
  • On completion of the 3 week placement candidates will have a guaranteed interview for a job role within the organisation (no obligation for the organisation to hire candidates)

Yvonne Thomson

Programme Manager

A Registered General Nurse, who has completed the ILM Coaching qualification with a multi-faceted career spanning over nearly 30 years. Experience has been gained within the Armed Forces and the NHS across secondary care, community, and Primary Care. Strategic and operational leadership, management, education, service development and re design, alongside project management expertise has been achieved throughout my career. Passionate about educational and career development and really enjoys working with people to develop their own skills and knowledge within a coaching and mentoring ethos.

Samantha Jefferies

Project Manager (Placements)

I am the Project Manager for Lancashire & South Cumbria Primary Care Training Hub, for Placements.

Working in partnership with the Five Training Hub Localities;

Providing support to each Locality Training hub, Leads, Operation Managers, General Practice Education Facilitators (GPEFs), Trainee Nursing Associate Practice Education Facilitators (TNA PEFs), and organisation Practice Education Facilitators (PEFs) in expanding clinical placements and ensuring the provisions are of a high-quality multi-professional learning environment across the sectors.
