SUMMARY:Clinical Skills Practice Workshop Lytham
DESCRIPTION:New for 2023 Lancashire and South Cumbria Training Hub are offering Clinical Skills Practice Workshops! Available throughout the year at different locations you will be able to experience a hands on approach with the support of a clinical educator! \n  \nTopics covered in the sessions are: \n\nVenepuncture\nObtaining a Manual Blood pressure\nInjection Technique\nCervical Sample Taking\n\n  \nThe workshops welcome General Practice Nurses\, Health Care Assistants\, Nursing Associates\, Trainee Nursing Associates\, Advanced Nurse Practitioners\, Student Nurses\, Student Nurse Paramedics\, Physician Associates… anyone with a clinical role within Primary Care that is already trained in the topics above. \nNew to practice and want to have some hands-on experience with a mannequin to gain skills and confidence or if you are an experienced practitioner and want to refresh your skills then this is the workshop for you! \n  \nWe have equipment available in the workshops to enable you to practice your skills and get hands on experience with the support of a friendly clinical educator plus a practical handbook to guide you through. \n– Please note that these workshops are not a formal training session and the purpose is to support delegates in building on knowledge and skills already learnt from previous formal training. \nDelegates must join the session from the start time and leave once they feel they have gained enough from the workshop: there is no requirement to stay for the full 3 hours. In addition\, delegates may attend to access one of the pieces of equipment or all of them! DESCRIPTION:Places are limited . If you cannot attend this training\, please ensure you have cancelled your place so that others can book on. \n  \nOVERVIEW \nThe course aims to really expand the understanding and knowledge of chaperoning in primary care. The course examines the problematic stereotypes of which patients will be offered a chaperone and in which circumstances. \nWe then go on to examine the roles and responsibilities of chaperones\, including developing their knowledge as to an extended definition of intimate examinations\, where to stand\, what to say and do. \nWe also discuss what information should be reported after a chaperoning consultation and their role in the event of a complaint being made. \n  \nAIMS \n\nClarifying definitions\nThe concept of ‘intimacy’\nRoles and responsibilities of the partners and the chaperone\nWhat the chaperone should be looking for whilst present\nIssues of consent: when and how it should be gained\nRisk areas in conducting intimate examinations\nChallenges to the gmcs ‘same sex chaperone’ guidance\,\nThe themes to be addressed in a practice chaperone policy\nReporting concerns\nProviding a chaperoning policy\n\n  \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND? \nNon-Clinical Primary Care Staff \n  \nWHAT DO I NEED? \n\nMS TEAMS (join on the app or online)\nPen/Paper\nPreferably a camera and mic to participate\n\n  \nHOW LONG IS THE COURSE? \n3 hours (Virtual)
