SUMMARY:Leading with Courage and Compassion
DESCRIPTION:Overview \nAt the heart of leadership is the focus on the service-user. Historically\, there has been a ‘pace setting’ leadership style prevalent within the NHS\, that focused on targets and delivery rather than engaging both staff and patients. There is now a recognised need for leaders who will work with compassion and a strong sense of moral purpose and courage. \nWe will provide insight into what it means to lead with compassion and courage in the NHS. It will look at how current policies inform the healthcare landscape\, focusing on the need for a passionate commitment to do the ‘right things at the right time’ for service users. \nThe context for this module will be set by an online expert guest speaker who will outline what leading with compassion and courage actually means in meeting the challenges of the current and future climate. A range of highly relevant case studies will be used\, showing service users’ experiences and ethical dilemmas.  These will provide a basis for facilitated group discussions on what is the ‘right’ thing and (importantly)\, how and when to do it to get successful and safe outcomes. \nYou will have the opportunity to reflect on your values\, your authenticity and how you demonstrate compassion in your leadership role – along with how you transmit this through to your colleagues. \nWhat will the session cover? \n\nIdentify what we mean by moral purpose\, compassion\, and the behaviours associated with them\nExplore how leading with moral purpose fits with the healthcare leadership context\nExplore how moral and ethical dilemmas in the system impact on your leadership role and develop approaches to resolving them\nConsider the link between patient pathway and the patient experience\nIdentify how mindset\, style\, and previous experience influence  individuals’ approaches to leading with compassion\n\nWho is it for? \nThis offer has been commissioned to directly support senior leaders across the North West (including but not exclusive to NHS Organisation Board and Sub Board post-holders\, Executive and Governing Body Leads\, Primary Care Network senior leadership teams and those working across system level roles).

SUMMARY:Wellbeing Conversations Training
DESCRIPTION:Managers and Leaders: Join us for a L&SC PCTH Wellbeing Conversation Session! \n  \nWhat is a wellbeing conversation? \nThe NHS People Plan 2020-21 sets out an ambition: “From September 2020\, every member of the NHS should have a health and wellbeing conversation and develop a personalised plan. These conversations may fit within an appraisal\, job plan or one-to-one line management discussion\, and should be reviewed at least annually. As part of this conversation\, line managers will be expected to discuss the individual’s health and wellbeing\, and any flexible working requirements\, as well as equality\, diversity and inclusion.” \n  \nVision for the wellbeing conversations \nHealth and wellbeing conversations are intended to be regular\, supportive\, coaching-style one to one conversations that focus on the wellbeing of our NHS people. \nBy encouraging organisations to embed wellbeing conversations across their system\, we aim to create cultures where people feel heard and valued\, and in which diversity is respected. This should\, in turn\, encourage us all to pass care and compassion on to each other\, to patients and to our families. \nWellbeing conversations should consider the whole wellbeing of an individual (e.g. physical\, mental\, emotional\, social\, financial\, lifestyle\, safety) and identify areas where the individual may need support\, signpost them to that support\, and regularly monitor their wellbeing over time. \n  \nIf you are no longer able to attend\, please cancel your place via Eventbrite. If you are struggling with booking or cancelling your place\, please contact us on mbpcc.lscthub@nhs.net \nBy signing up you agree for your information to be stored and by the Training hub and shared with NHSE and HEE\, for the delivery of this training\, monitoring\, reporting and certification purposes only.
