SUMMARY:Basic Wound Care face to face theory and practical in one day
DESCRIPTION:This face to face session is a full day 9.30- 4.30pm with 30 mins break for lunch at Fatima Health Centre\, 228 Garstang Rd\, Fulwood\, Preston PR2 9QB (1st Floor) \nThis session is a combined theory and practical basic wound care session (replacing and combining the original part 1 and part 2 sessions) \n  \nThe session is delivered by our basic wound care supertrainer Abigail Holman \nThe day will cover: \nTheory elements\nA&P of the structure and function of the skin recap\nStages of wound healing\nDefining and classifying wounds\nWound Healing\nPatient Assessment\nWound assessment and documentation\nWound management and debridement\nExudate management and cleansing\nWound infection and dressing selection\nFactors affecting wound healing\nSkin tears\nSimple lacerations\nSimple skin burns\nMalignancy flags\nSutures and clip removal\nSafeguarding \nPractical elements\nGroup tasks looking at wounds and burns and agreeing a treatment plan and management\nDressing packs and aseptic technique\nHow to describe a wound\nHow to photograph a wound\nWhen to refer\nHow to complete Les template\nCodes for ordering\nWhen to wound swab and when to change dressing\nWound healing and monitoring\nClip and suture removal \n  \nClinical disclaimer\nAttendance at these sessions will show how to deliver the clinical skills and examinations it will not ensure competence. The sessions do not consider any previous knowledge or assumptions of prior learning of those attending. Furthermore\, these videos or training sessions should not be interpreted as setting a standard of care or be deemed inclusive of all methods of care nor exclusive of other methods of care reasonably directed to obtaining the same outcome of results. \nThe ultimate judgment regarding competence at being proficient at any of the skills demonstrated must be made following agreed observed sign off from employer in practice.
