SUMMARY:Introduction to Immunisation and Vaccinations Training (Foundation from April 2025)
DESCRIPTION:There are a number of elearning modules which must be completed prior to attending the online live training session. \nPlease ensure you have blocked some time in your diary to complete this online training. Details of which are below. \n\n\nThe training will take place on MS Teams. \n\n\nThe Immunisation and Vaccination Foundation is a blended learning programme.\nThis training includes NHS Travel Vaccine schedules.\nThis is for those new to providing Immunisation and Vaccinations\nThis course does not cover anaphylaxis or basic life support. This must be completed separately.\n\n\n\nIn line with the Public Health England (2025) Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training for Registered Healthcare Practitioners\, we have developed a blended approach of both an e-learning and a face-to-face taught course which previously consisted of two full taught days. Those new to immunisation are required to receive comprehensive foundation immunisation training. \n\nThe programme website is:–https://portal.e-lfh.org.uk/myElearning/Index?HierarchyId=0_39333&programmeId=39333\n\nThe programme is free to access just register to use the e-lfh portal. \n\n\nImmunology\nVaccine Preventable Disease relevant to your practice: Influenza\, Shingles\, Covid\, Pneumococcal\, Pertussis\, Diphtheria\, Tetanus\, Polio\, HiB\, Meningitis\, Measles\, Mumps and Rubella\, Rotavirus\, Hep B\, RSV (if applicable)\nCommunicating with Patients\, Parents and Carers\nLegal Aspects\nVaccine Storage\nVaccine Administration\n\nDelegates will also be expected to complete a questionnaire post-session in order to receive a certificate of completion plus a quiz gaining a mark of over 80%.Delegates will require a clinical supervisor in Practice to be able to sign off the competency assessment tool following the course- details of which are below\nto ensure the delivery of the vaccines is safe and effective. \nThe supervisor assessing the practitioner must be a registered healthcare practitioner who is competent and experienced in delivering immunisation programmes. \n\n\nUKHSA_National_Minimum_Standards_for_immunisation_training_2025.pdf \n\n\nNOTE – for Non Registered Healthcare Professionals – BEFORE BOOKING PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU – have achieved education and training to Level Three of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)4 or equivalent in England and Wales with at least 2 years’ experience as recommended in The National Minimum Standards. This must be completed separately.\n\n\n\nIn line with the Public Health England (2025) Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training for Registered Healthcare Practitioners\, we have developed a blended approach of both an e-learning and a face-to-face taught course which previously consisted of two full taught days. DESCRIPTION:Lancashire and South Cumbria Practice Nurse and AHP national and local update forums \nWe have set up 4 new style forums for 2026-2027.  Each forum will be 2 hours long and these have been arranged on PLT afternoons so that some locality staff will be able to join\, however\, any GPN or AHP from other localities can join any of the sessions. Each session will focus on one topic\, delivered by an expert in that field.   The session will be of an educational nature and there will be an opportunity to ‘ask the expert’ at the end of the session. \nThe remaining forum for 2025-2026 will be still be 45 minutes as follows: \n10th March 2026 –  13:30-14:15 – presentation by Hannah Goldsmith\, Senior Infection Control Nurse who will give a general IPC update on various topics:\n\nPrimary Care IPC Champions\nA brief slide on ANTT\nGloves off campaign\nSkin decontamination\, just a summary/clarification slide\nWinter IPC reminders\nFlu season\nNew IPC section on primary care intranet\n\n\nThis will be followed by an explanation of the new format to the forums going forward \nThe new forum dates are: \n7th July 13:30-15:30​ – Cancer early diagnosis session hosted by Jason Feavers with an opportunity to ask the expert! \n\n7th October 13:30-15:30​ – This session is hosted by Jeannie Hayhurst who is clinical lead for cardio vascular disease prevention she is going to talk about tobacco\, physical exercise\, diet\, blood pressure and pulse and the effects on long term conditions in particular CVD. It provides an interactive half-day with scenario-based learning\, quizzes\, presentations\, time for discussion and questions. \n\nThis course is relevant for Menopause Care providers needing an introduction and provides a useful update for more experienced staff. Courses are delivered in a variety of locations across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
