MECC provides an opportunity to discuss health and wellbeing lifestyle pathways which can support and enable behaviour change for key risk factors including smoking\, alcohol\, healthy weight\, physical activity and mental health and may link to local social prescribing offers. \n  \nWho is the course aimed at? \nThe course is aimed at anybody interested in learning more around the MECC approach and how this can be cascaded throughout your organisation or through the local community. SUMMARY:Lancashire and South Cumbria Local and National Nurse and AHP Quarterly Update Forums
DESCRIPTION:Lancashire and South Cumbria Practice Nurse and AHP national and local update forums \nWe have set up 4 new style forums for 2026-2027.  Each forum will be 2 hours long and these have been arranged on PLT afternoons so that some locality staff will be able to join\, however\, any GPN or AHP from other localities can join any of the sessions. Each session will focus on one topic\, delivered by an expert in that field.   The session will be of an educational nature and there will be an opportunity to ‘ask the expert’ at the end of the session. \nThe remaining forum for 2025-2026 will be still be 45 minutes as follows: \n10th March 2026 –  13:30-14:15 – presentation by Hannah Goldsmith\, Senior Infection Control Nurse who will give a general IPC update on various topics:\n\nPrimary Care IPC Champions\nA brief slide on ANTT\nGloves off campaign\nSkin decontamination\, just a summary/clarification slide\nWinter IPC reminders\nFlu season\nNew IPC section on primary care intranet\n\n\nThis will be followed by an explanation of the new format to the forums going forward \nThe new forum dates are: \n7th July 13:30-15:30​ – Cancer early diagnosis session hosted by Jason Feavers with an opportunity to ask the expert! \n\n7th October 13:30-15:30​ – This session is hosted by Jeannie Hayhurst who is clinical lead for cardio vascular disease prevention she is going to talk about tobacco\, physical exercise\, diet\, blood pressure and pulse and the effects on long term conditions in particular CVD. DESCRIPTION:March – Outcomes\, Assurance & Forward Planning  \nDES: End-of-year assurance  \nLES: Evaluation  \n\nReview of outcomes and KPIs \n\n\nGap analysis \n\n\nPriorities for 2027–28 \n\nLancashire and South Cumbria Primary Care Training Hub’s PCN Lead Nurse Forums are held monthly for 30 minutes \nThe Forum provides useful resources\, regular update of communications from local Integrated Care Board such as Infection Control and Safeguarding and National Steer. It allows nurses to share best practice and innovation across the system\, collectively raise any nurse issues and provides peer support. \n\nAs part of the General Practice Nurse Programme in Lancashire and South Cumbria\, we have funding for a Lead Nurse in Primary Care Networks to join our collaborative. The collaborative is continuing the work from the GPN10PP to collectively work together to support all nurses in Primary Care.\n​\n​This is an interactive session and you will be expected to interact.
