SUMMARY:Ovarian Cancer - Early Diagnosis
DESCRIPTION:This session will be delivered by representative from Ovacome\, Ovarian Cancer Charity\, alongside Karina Bidiss and Victoria Clare and is suitable for GPNs\nOvarian cancer is predominantly diagnosed at late stage in the UK and we have some of the poorest survival outcomes in Europe. Over 40% of women were diagnosed through presenting at A&E and many myths exist around diagnosis and symptoms. DESCRIPTION:Event Description\n\n\n\nAvailable throughout the year at different locations you will be able to experience a hands on approach with the support of a clinical educator! \nLocation: Fatima Health Centre\, 228 Garstang Rd\, Fulwood\, Preston PR2 9QB (1st Floor) \n\nWe have added some extra skills onto our sessions to broaden your experience.\nTopics covered in the sessions are:\n\nPractice taking a smear\nManual blood pressures plus looking at normal parameters and targets\nInjection Technique\nVenepuncture\nInhaler technique\nPeak flow technique\nBlood oxygen levels using a pulse oximeter\n\n\n\nThe workshops welcome General Practice Nurses\, Health Care Assistants\, Nursing Associates\, Trainee Nursing Associates\, Advanced Nurse Practitioners\, Student Nurses\, Student Nurse Paramedics\, Physician Associates… anyone with a clinical role within Primary Care that is already trained in the topics above. \n\nNew to practice and want to have some hands-on experience with a mannequin to gain skills and confidence or if you are an experienced practitioner and want to refresh your skills then this is the workshop for you!\n\nWe have equipment available in the workshops to enable you to practice your skills and get hands-on experience with the support of a friendly clinical educator plus a practical handbook to guide you through. \n\n\nPlease note that these workshops are not a formal training session and the purpose is to support delegates in building on knowledge and skills already learnt from previous formal training.\n\n\nDelegates must join the session from the start time and leave once they feel they have gained enough from the workshop: there is no requirement to stay for the full 3 hours. DESCRIPTION:Lancashire and South Cumbria Primary Care Training Hub’s PCN Lead Nurse Forums are held monthly.  Sessions available to book are from January 2025 – March 2026.  December 2026 will be face  to face and details will follow \nWe host a Virtual Forum for PCN Lead Nurses/Representatives\, once a month (day and time changes monthly to allow accessibility to all). \nThe Forum provides useful resources\, regular update of communications from local Integrated Care Board such as Infection Control and Safeguarding and National Steer. It allows nurses to share best practice and innovation across the system\, collectively raise any nurse issues and provides peer support. \n\nAs part of the General Practice Nurse Programme in Lancashire and South Cumbria\, we have funding for a Lead Nurse in Primary Care Networks to join our collaborative. DESCRIPTION:This is a virtual session to run through\nProlapse assessment​\nKnowledge of indication and management involved in pessary care​\nRemoval and fitting of pessaries for routine changes​\nKnowledge of how to manage complications of ring pessaries​\nAssessment for ring pessary fitting​\nKnowledge on alternatives to pessaries ​\nPessary self-management\nSign-off discussion \nCompetency sign off for delegates new to ring pessary \nIf you are new to ring pessary you will need a competency sign off assessor. \nIdeally this would be completed in your Practice by someone who is appropriately trained in ring pessary. An appropriately trained person is someone who has completed ring pessary training and is confident and competent in this procedure. \nAlternatively we have women’s health supertrainers who are able to sign off those who do not have a trained ring pessary fitter in Practice. \nWe are also offering face to face practical sessions for ring pessary where the skill can be practised on a gynaecological mannequin. These sessions will be advertised as soon as the dates have been finalised. \nAlthough we have attached our own competency sign off document please refer to your Practice and adhere to your own organisational policy with regards to training and competency sign off. \nOnce you have been signed off as competent we invite you to register as a competent ring pessary fitter on a Lancashire and South Cumbria register. We will make the link to this available to you once you have completed your training \nClinical disclaimer\nAttendance at these sessions will show how to deliver the clinical skills and examinations it will not ensure competence. The sessions do not consider any previous knowledge or assumptions of prior learning of those attending. DESCRIPTION:Available throughout the year at different locations you will be able to experience a hands on approach with the support of a clinical educator! \nLocation: Room (Seminar Room) Lytham Primary Care Centre\, Victoria Street Lytham FY8 5DZ\, Victoria St\, Lytham FY8 5DZ \nWe have added some extra skills onto our sessions to broaden the experience on attending! \n\nTopics covered in the sessions are:\n\n\nManual blood pressures plus looking at normal parameters and targets\nInjection Technique\nVenepuncture\nInhaler technique\nPeak flow technique\nBlood oxygen levels using a pulse oximeter.\n\n\n\nThe workshops welcome General Practice Nurses\, Health Care Assistants\, Nursing Associates\, Trainee Nursing Associates\, Advanced Nurse Practitioners\, Student Nurses\, Student Nurse Paramedics\, Physician Associates… anyone with a clinical role within Primary Care that is already trained in the topics above. \n\n\nNew to practice and want to have some hands-on experience with a mannequin to gain skills and confidence or if you are an experienced practitioner and want to refresh your skills then this is the workshop for you! \n\n\nWe have equipment available in the workshops to enable you to practice your skills and get hands-on experience with the support of a friendly clinical educator plus a practical handbook to guide you through. \n\n\nPlease note that these workshops are not a formal training session and the purpose is to support delegates in building on knowledge and skills already learnt from previous formal training.\n\n\nDelegates must join the session from the start time and leave once they feel they have gained enough from the workshop: there is no requirement to stay for the full 3 hours. In addition\, delegates may attend to access one of the pieces of equipment or all of them! This is a great opportunity to get hands-on and have a play with the mannequins to help improve your practice!\n\nYou will receive a certificate post-training for your attendance. SUMMARY:Spirometry Skills Workshop - Lytham Face to Face
DESCRIPTION:Available throughout the year at Room SF89\, Darwen Health Centre\, James St W\, Darwen BB3 1PY \nThe session will include verification of the spirometer using a 3 litre syringe and an opportunity to practice performing spirometry with an experienced clinical educator. \n\n\nThe workshops welcome General Practice Nurses\, Health Care Assistants\, Nursing Associates\, Trainee Nursing Associates\, Advanced Nurse Practitioners\, Student Nurses\, Student Nurse Paramedics\, Physician Associates… anyone with a clinical role within Primary Care that is already trained in spirometry \n\n\nPLEASE BRING A DISPOSIBLE MOUTHPIECE TO THE SESSIONPart of the training involves active participation including performing spirometry.
