SUMMARY:Ovarian Cancer - Early Diagnosis
DESCRIPTION:This session will be delivered by representative from Ovacome\, Ovarian Cancer Charity\, alongside Karina Bidiss and Victoria Clare and is suitable for GPNs\nOvarian cancer is predominantly diagnosed at late stage in the UK and we have some of the poorest survival outcomes in Europe. Over 40% of women were diagnosed through presenting at A&E and many myths exist around diagnosis and symptoms. This training sessions will cover: \nSigns and symptoms\nInformation about the disease that you need to know\nDiagnosis\, hereditary risk\nDebunking myths\nWhat treatment pathways follow diagnosis\nAvailable support for you and patients\nThe local picture – what we know and what we want to see locally\nGive you resources and information to pass on to your patients and their family members\nResources for patients who may face barriers to diagnosis (such as living in poverty\, having low literacy or English as a second language) \nThis is an interactive session and you will be expected to interact. DESCRIPTION:This is a 3 hour Teams session with Tracy Kirk for general practice staff. \nThese sessions are fully funded for staff working in General Practice in Lancashire and South Cumbria. If you work outside of this area\, please select a ‘Non funded ticket’ option. \nAll bookings are subject to a 14-day cancellation policy. DESCRIPTION:Event Description\n\n\n\nAvailable throughout the year at different locations you will be able to experience a hands on approach with the support of a clinical educator! \nLocation: Fatima Health Centre\, 228 Garstang Rd\, Fulwood\, Preston PR2 9QB (1st Floor) \n\nWe have added some extra skills onto our sessions to broaden your experience.\nTopics covered in the sessions are:\n\nPractice taking a smear\nManual blood pressures plus looking at normal parameters and targets\nInjection Technique\nVenepuncture\nInhaler technique\nPeak flow technique\nBlood oxygen levels using a pulse oximeter\n\n\n\nThe workshops welcome General Practice Nurses\, Health Care Assistants\, Nursing Associates\, Trainee Nursing Associates\, Advanced Nurse Practitioners\, Student Nurses\, Student Nurse Paramedics\, Physician Associates… anyone with a clinical role within Primary Care that is already trained in the topics above. \n\nNew to practice and want to have some hands-on experience with a mannequin to gain skills and confidence or if you are an experienced practitioner and want to refresh your skills then this is the workshop for you!\n\nWe have equipment available in the workshops to enable you to practice your skills and get hands-on experience with the support of a friendly clinical educator plus a practical handbook to guide you through. \n\n\nPlease note that these workshops are not a formal training session and the purpose is to support delegates in building on knowledge and skills already learnt from previous formal training.\n\n\nDelegates must join the session from the start time and leave once they feel they have gained enough from the workshop: there is no requirement to stay for the full 3 hours. In addition\, delegates may attend to access one of the pieces of equipment or all of them! SUMMARY:PCN Lead Nurse Forums 2025-2026
DESCRIPTION:Lancashire and South Cumbria Primary Care Training Hub’s PCN Lead Nurse Forums are held monthly.  Sessions available to book are from January 2025 – March 2026.  December 2026 will be face  to face and details will follow \nWe host a Virtual Forum for PCN Lead Nurses/Representatives\, once a month (day and time changes monthly to allow accessibility to all). \nThe Forum provides useful resources\, regular update of communications from local Integrated Care Board such as Infection Control and Safeguarding and National Steer. It allows nurses to share best practice and innovation across the system\, collectively raise any nurse issues and provides peer support. \n\nAs part of the General Practice Nurse Programme in Lancashire and South Cumbria\, we have funding for a Lead Nurse in Primary Care Networks to join our collaborative. The collaborative is continuing the work from the GPN10PP to collectively work together to support all nurses in Primary Care.\n​\n​This is an interactive session and you will be expected to interact.
