DESCRIPTION:Aims of the Course \nMaking Every Contact Count (MECC) is the opportunistic delivery of consistent and concise healthy lifestyle information via brief or very brief behaviour change interventions\, enabling individuals to engage in conversations about their health at scale across organisations and populations. MECC provides an opportunity to discuss health and wellbeing lifestyle pathways which can support and enable behaviour change for key risk factors including smoking\, alcohol\, healthy weight\, physical activity and mental health and may link to local social prescribing offers. \n  \nWho is the course aimed at? \nThe course is aimed at anybody interested in learning more around the MECC approach and how this can be cascaded throughout your organisation or through the local community. DESCRIPTION:Clinical Skills Practice Workshop for Primary Care staff in Lancashire and South Cumbria \nAvailable throughout the year at different locations you will be able to experience a hands on approach with the support of a clinical educator! \nLocation: Fatima Health Centre\, 228 Garstang Rd\, Fulwood\, Preston PR2 9QB (1st Floor) \n\nWe have added some extra skills onto our sessions to broaden your experience.\n\nTopics covered in the sessions are:\n\nPractice taking a smear\nManual blood pressures plus looking at normal parameters and targets\nInjection Technique\nVenepuncture\nInhaler technique\nPeak flow technique\nBlood oxygen levels using a pulse oximeter\n\n\nThe workshops welcome General Practice Nurses\, Health Care Assistants\, Nursing Associates\, Trainee Nursing Associates\, Advanced Nurse Practitioners\, Student Nurses\, Student Nurse Paramedics\, Physician Associates… anyone with a clinical role within Primary Care that is already trained in the topics above. \n\nNew to practice and want to have some hands-on experience with a mannequin to gain skills and confidence or if you are an experienced practitioner and want to refresh your skills then this is the workshop for you!\nWe have equipment available in the workshops to enable you to practice your skills and get hands-on experience with the support of a friendly clinical educator plus a practical handbook to guide you through. \n\n\nPlease note that these workshops are not a formal training session and the purpose is to support delegates in building on knowledge and skills already learnt from previous formal training.\n\nDelegates must join the session from the start time and leave once they feel they have gained enough from the workshop: there is no requirement to stay for the full 3 hours. In addition\, delegates may attend to access one of the pieces of equipment or all of them!
