Supporting health and social care placements for Nursing and AHP students in Primary Care and PIVOs
University of Chester host a team of Practice Education Facilitators and administrators who have opened many health and social care placements in the community to support recent moves to develop integrated care systems and place-based care, prompting fewer referrals into statutory health services. Private, independent, and voluntary organisations are a valuable source of these types of practice placements. Implementation has re-established students’ opportunities to undertake innovative placements extending beyond the NHS, which promote vital alternative skillsets across diverse cultural and situational backgrounds. This demonstrates how students address individual strengths and preferences while involving a wider social network that is asset based and not illness/deficit focused, including communicating effectively with people across the lifespan.
